Director's Message

Dear Families,

On behalf of our preschool teachers and staff, I would like to welcome you to El Rancho Unified School District’s Early Learning Program. This is our program's 47th year of service in the ERUSD community! We are excited and honored to be the first step in your child's educational journey.

Our program mission is simple. Everyday we strive to provide children with a world-class experience that will set the foundation to develop joyful, resilient, lifelong learners. Our classrooms provide a high-quality early education experience that combines rigorous content with skillful, developmentally appropriate teaching and activities. Given the significance of early literacy to future academic success, our highly trained educators place a focus on early phonics and reading instruction. Our teachers utilize research-based best practices and analyze data to determine current skill levels and set goals for growth and development. To ensure that children learn the prerequisite skills for entry to kindergarten or TK, our preschool teachers utilize many of the same instructional materials that are used in those classrooms through direct, systematic instruction.

We believe in supporting the physical, cognitive, social and emotional growth of all students. Most students who attended our program leave our classrooms knowing letter names and sounds, recognizing numbers, possessing early writing skills, and perhaps most importantly-thinking critically and creatively. Rest assured, your child will depart our preschool program ready to succeed!

It is my pleasure and greatest honor to welcome you for an exceptional year. We all hope that you and your child will enjoy your preschool years with the ERUSD Early Learning Program. As a proud product of this great district and a parent whose children began their educational journey in this very preschool program, I deeply understand the value and impact it has. And, as director, I look forward to getting to know you and your child, and working together to create the best experience for you all!

We encourage you to use this Parent Handbook as an informational guide. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or need anything at 562-801-7700 or at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Ms. Natalia Lara Gonzales
