Director's Message
Dear Families,
On behalf of our preschool teachers and staff, I would like to welcome you to El Rancho Unified School District’s Early Learning Program. Our program has a lengthy, distinguished history of nurturing and educating El Rancho’s youngest students. In this, our 40th year of service to the ERUSD community, we are looking forward to preparing nearly 400 preschool students for success in elementary school!
As a program, our goal is simple; each day we strive to provide your child with a world class preschool experience that will provide him or her the foundation to excel academically and become absolutely anything or anyone they desire. Our classrooms provide a high quality early education experience that combines rigorous content with skillful, developmentally appropriate teaching. Given the importance of early literacy to future academic achievement, our highly trained teachers place a premium on phonics and reading instruction. Utilizing the same instructional materials that children will use in kindergarten, our preschool teachers provide direct, systematic instruction to ensure that children learn the prerequisite skills for entry to kindergarten.
The results for children who attend our program are striking—students leave our classrooms knowing letter names and sounds, recognizing numbers, possessing early writing skills, and- perhaps most importantly- thinking critically and creatively. In short, your child will depart our preschool program primed and ready to succeed in kindergarten.
It is our sincerest hope that you and your child will enjoy your preschool years with the ERUSD Early Learning Program. And, as Director, I look forward to getting to know you and your children during my visits to your classrooms!
